Seriously are we trying to send people over the flipping edge?

This popped up on my Facebook!

Seriously!

Valentine Decorating Ideas!

I ask you HAVE we LOST OUT MINDS?

It is Valentine’s Day people!

I like the Love picture, but I would never rotate it out for Valentine’s Day, would you?  Must be nice!

Pillows are cute, the connecting pillows would drive me nuts but it is Valentine’s Day, seriously,do we need all that stuff, just to have to pack it away,or would you leave it out?  MORE STUFF!!!

Shouldn’t Valentine’s day be A simple little day, to say, “Hey, sweetie, I love you.”  And, if you are lucky enough to have a sweetie, maybe go dinner, make a special dinner or hell , just a special meal, whatever fits the schedule.  Of course, a little hanky panky might be nice on the day too.

BUT ALL THE STUFF and all the WORK NOW!!

More Ideas!!

Now, c’mon can’t you just see yourself making these little treats?

Look at that perfect heart with the egg!!

Who has that time on Valentine’s Day, maybe on the weekend, MAYBE?

Or really, going to buy marshmallows and cut out hearts?

I feel shitty but it is just VALENTINE’S DAY

And,For little ones, it is about, letting them take those STORE BOUGHT cheap cards or maybe make something SIMPLE to school and have a little fun with their buddies.  THAT WAS IT. Oh, and at school we use to have a SIMPLE half hour party with punch and A COOKIE or A CUPCAKE.  No games, no mommies there making us do STUPID ASS CRAFTS to take home to be thrown away or gift bags with JUNK.  MORE STUFF!!!

Parents today are TEACHING HOARDING!!

STUFF EVERYWHERE.

GIFT BAGS and CRAFTS that must be SAVED FOR EVER because they are so PRECIOUS. STUFF!!!!

Someday there will not be homes large enough and enough storage places for all their STUFF!!

For the teenagers, oh, always a suckie day but you figured it out and usually the High school had a sweetheart dance BUT it was all inclusive and small, you had the couples or the groups!! Nothing fancy.  No formal dressing.

SIMPLE.

TODAY, Forget about it!!

We talk about SIMPLIFYING.  I read a ton of mommyblogs and how they are SO STRESSED.  Yeah, they do it to themselves.  SERIOUSLY.  I shake my head and think STOP.  Or stop your bitching!! You spend too much money on stupid ass HOLIDAYS such as VALENTINE. You teach your children MORE, BIGGER and BETTER is best.

You have turned EVERY.SINGLE.DANCE. into Prom.  The dresses are expensive.  The kids go to fancy dinners and it IS ALL YOUR FAULT.  Don’t blame society.  As a parent you make the rules, you buy into the bullshit. My God, you turn into a PHOTO SHOOT before the dance, of course the kids want to be dressed the best!

I never took one picture at one house before sweetheart dance.  I snapped a shot of my son before he left.  He bought the picture from the dance.  Oh, and my parents NEVER EVER went to any house for PHOTO SHOOTS.  I will admit to the Prom shoots with my son but only PROM.

The amount of blogs I have read about VALENTINES DAY is beyond silly.  Make this, buy that, we are doing this, we LOVE EACH OTHER so much……

Maybe if you spent more time with each other each day, less money ON STUFF and crap, well, you might make it for the long haul!!

You don’t need Valentine’s day, actually, you should celebrate your anniversary.

I get my loved ones a simple card with a token gift.  Very small.  My kids are older, they get iTune giftcards because I have to mail the gift, otherwise they probably would get candy.  When they were small they got a little stuff animal.  I spent about 5 bucks!  I put minimal decorations up.

Oh, and yes, you only live once but then don’t bitch about STRESS and lack of funds.  If you feel it is important to go all out for every Holiday then by all means it is your choice but I do find it funny that in the next breath you complain about wanting less stress and more money and less clutter.  Maybe it is your priorities.  Your kids will enjoy a simple Valentines day with a less stressed atmosphere way more than the house decorated to the hilt and all the crap!!

Seriously, IT IS JUST VALENTINE’S DAY

Even MORE ideas!!

Oh, look you can buy PINK paperclips and make hearts to clip things because why?

Guess you must have heart shape balloons for your Valentine’s party?  Or with a gift?

A cute shirt you can wear a few times and then STORE AWAY!

ALL STUFF, STUFF.

Listen, I understand we like a few things but seriously, it is Valentine’s Day, get a grip!

Well, if the above pictures enticed you and you just have to have something then check out the HGTV blog

What is it that prevents us from simplifying?

We did little things when the lovelies were growing up like heart shaped waffles for breakfast, chocolates in a heart shaped box, Wal-Mart cards for their classes. Now that they’ve grown up we don’t do much. I just always feel like a little surprise on a random day means more than giving it on a day set aside for giving an ‘I love you’ gift.

OH-I love the TED site! I visit it every once in a while and am never disappointed.

I understand that there is a special day to say “I love you” but that should be something we do everyday, right? Every day should be valentines day :) The rest of it is just for show.

Holy smokes! I had no idea. My mom used to give us little 4-piece Whitman Samplers and a card for Valentine’s Day and the cards we took to school were those store bought ones. We had punch and cookies and card distribution – you had to give a card to everyone in the class – and that was the extent of this silly holiday.
