Are you able to read that ‘your ecards‘? It says, “You know… standing as close to me as you possibly can in the check out line will NOT make the line move faster….”
If you have read LUCY’S REALITY long enough then you know darn well I LIKED and SHARED that photo!!! I have serious issues with GROCERY STORE LINES.
To top it off I am a HUGE believer in PERSONAL SPACE. I know such an AMERICAN thing.
Which leads me to another story. While we were in St.Lucia dining one evening we happened to over hear a large group of people laughing, drinking and having a good time. During their fun conversation we heard this statement, “You know, it is a very American thing, very American.” Try hearing it with a bit of an accent and tone. Yeah, it definitely was NOT A compliment and it was clear they were NOT AMERICAN nor did they realize WE WERE AMERICANS! It was funny to hear others talk about us. Oh,sorry, I am not good with accents. I am pretty sure they were not British, could have been Australian? And, nosy me wanted to know what was, ‘VERY AMERICAN’. I bet it was our stupid need for PERSONAL SPACE LOL. Or eavesdropping, nah, every culture does that right? LOL
Anyway, have ever seen those eCards on Facebook and think, wow that person nailed what I was thinking? Do you ever share those photos?

Grocery store line experiences: today the man in front of me decides to share his scar. He pulled up his pant leg and showed a nasty scar from surgery, it was at least 16 inches long and a year old, but didn’t look well healed. People surprise and look for validation in the most mundane of places, that grocery line you can’t escape from. As for those cards, I’ve only seen them on blogs, and some of them are exactly what I’m thinking.
Those eCards on Facebook CRACK ME UP! And most of the time, they are EXACTLY what I think and feel!
But now I’m also DYING to know what those people in St. Lucia considered “very American”
Huge fan of personal space here. Also of cleanliness. I’m always reminded of how much I love hand sanitizer after being overseas. In china, not only is there no personal space, the older generation. Does whatever they want. Like cut in line. Every annoying. Ad un American!
YES those ecards just some days fit my life PERFECTLY and I get super annoyed in line at the grocery store, when I had to do the carehome shopping I would tell people “hey.. I would get in another line all 3 of these carts are mine and it is just me unloading and bagging, I am that nightmare person to be behind” I gave them fair warning but they would just stay behind me, glare and toetap, so then I would make a very loud comment as I was paying about people rudeness etc…
Those ecards are hilarious! And personal space is DEFINITELY an American thing. Guess it’s because we have so much of it here. I’m sure there’s plenty to bad-mouth about Americans but whatevers, I’m proud to be one and wouldn’t live anywhere else!
Gosh, I remember your grocery line post. I think I have pretty decent grocery store etiquette but ever since then I make even more effort when on line. Others, not so much.
Some of those ecards are hilarious, others are overkill and even obnoxious. I don’t usually share them, but when I like them they show up on my page, you know how Facebook is. But yes, many of them have hit the nail right on the head!
