Love a Creep!

by lucy on October 2, 2012

Today is gonna be long day.  I have to head to Ohio for about eight days and Tuesday is flying day. I’ve added a bunch of songs on my iPod! I am good to go, flying will be more pleasurable with good music to keep me calm and occupied!!

Now, Rory or Leslie?  Not sure which she prefers, from Time Out for Mom,host a fun Tuesday Coffee Chat.  Not a lot of fuss, just discuss the topic.  I thought the topic was cool this week, meaning or translate neat and interesting!!!

In her words this is the Tuesday Coffee Chat Topic, “Bady Boys and Girls:

Who is your favourite literary or film villain? Feel free to include video, photos, or dialogue in your post to convince us your bad boy, or girl is the scariest meanie of all.”

Gosh, I could probably name quite a few Villains and not just make believe, ha,ha!! BUT Edgar Allen Poe’s a Tell Tale Heart has stuck with me since I read it in Junior High.  Now, that is a long, long time ago.  There is something terrible creepy about someone killing an old man over a gross eye and being super, extra, nice to the person right before they knock him off.

Edgar Allen Poe was one creepy writer! If you have not read  The Tell-Tale Heart, read it!  CREEPY!  Like I said, the main character kills an old man for no apparent reason other than an irritating eye!  Now, I won’t give away the ending but all I have to say is it IS creepy and the nutty  killer is A total whackadoo or MAD, yes, MAD!! (I know, most killers are but seriously this guy is WHACKED) And, a PERFECT VILLAIN is MAD,NUTTY and a WHACKADOODLE!! Oh, and will kill on a whim, now that is a villain!!!

Oh, and on a side note, in 1843, forensic evidence was already a concern, interesting, huh?  You, notice Poe, states “I then replaced the boards so cleverly, so cunningly, that no human eye –not even his –could have detected any thing wrong. There was nothing to wash out –no stain of any kind –no blood-spot whatever. ”

If you don’t want to read it enjoy this great reading of it the short story!!

Oh Edgar Allen Poe – excellent, excellent choice! Evermore – ha!
I always dive into some Poe at this time of the year – it’s just so suitably creepy. It’s great that you mention the forensic nature of his writings because he is basically known as the inventor of detective fiction. His life is an absolutely fascinating read.
Thanks for linking up.

A very interesting take on this subject of villians. Everyone sure has made it a very interesting discussion. I never study EAP in school. Have a safe trip. I hate to fly anywhere.

Edgar was a brilliant and dark individual. He was awesome.

I really only read books with purses, lipsticks, and pink on the cover! So no real villians!!
