The quote above was sent by email by our Parish priest. One might think he doesn’t want a Catholic to come to Church? I think he just likes to remind Catholics what IT is all about. Sometimes, Catholics with the best intentions only show up for the ‘big’ stuff or traditions and rituals, they don’t mean much if you are not spiritual. In addition, those looking at us like we are a bit nutty well, I understand, but we don’t think that stuff is magical, just traditions and symbols. It would be pretty cool if they were magical and wiped everything away
Are you Catholic? Do you get ashes? Do you participate in Lent?

I’m not Catholic, but my sister converted when she got married. She does participate in Lent, but she doesn’t get ashes.
Not Catholic, but always have been fascinated by their ceremony and traditions. I like that the have such depth of feeling and conviction concerning their faith — that the traditions have been held as sacred for so long. I think there is something about that.
Not that my own doesn’t have it’s own — but Pentecostal can definitely be a bit more in your face. I’ the toned down and mild version though. LOL
Your priest’s words hit the target. Is the interior of the church out near you? It looks very serene, beautiful, and small, too. This year’s Lent sacrifices will be a real challenge.
I am not catholic. Actually I don’t practice any religion. I really don’t believe in it….
I don’t really participate in any religious things – but we do get together for BOTH the Jewish & Catholic sides of my family.
I am a lapsed Catholic. Saw someone in the Harris Teeter with a HUGE cross on his head. His parish must have had a ton of ashes handy…
